Steve Wages was raised in Griffin, Georgia where he
graduated from Griffin High in 1984. After attending Georgia Tech and Georgia
State, he graduated with a BA degree in Political Science, minoring in Computer
Information Systems in 1989. Receiving a commission in the US Air Force upon
graduation, he attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus, AFB, flying
T-37 and T-38 aircraft and receiving his Air Force pilot wings and a FAA
Commercial Pilot License with Multi Engine and instrument ratings. He then took
an assignment to the Alaska Air National guard where he flew HH-60G Pavehawk
helicopters in the 210TH Rescue Squadron, based out of Anchorage,
AK.
Returning to Griffin in 1995, he continued his career in
aviation by attending Clayton College and State University and obtaining his
FAA Airframe and Powerplant license there. Since entering the civilian aviation
field, he has spent time as a mechanic, part sales and management, computer
software systems implementation, design and management for companies such as
Gulfstream, Bell Helicopter and Zodiac Aerospace. Currently Steve is serving as
the Director of Operations for the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation, a 501c(3)
non-profit flying museum, based in Henry county.
Steve has been an active volunteer over the years in several
organizations including Arnold Air Society, Civil Air Patrol and 4-H. He is currently
very active with the Spalding County 4-H program as a certified adult volunteer
along with his wife and two of their 3 children. Steve and his family are long
time residents of Spalding county, living near the Birdie community.
